Hello!

This blog is devoted to a single guitar chord: F#m7add11.

That name is an ambiguous handful, so here is the one I mean, in tablature form:

-----0-----
-----0-----
-----2-----
-----4-----
-----4-----
-----2-----

This would be a simple minor chord, except the top two guitar strings are allowed to ring open instead of barred at the second fret. The second string sounds a B, which is the 11th of the chord. The first string sounds an E, which is the dominant 7th scale degree. The rest are just members of the basic minor triad (root, minor 3rd, and perfect 5th). I play it with my thumb on the low F#, with middle, ring, and index fingers on the next three strings, in that order.

It's a pretty sound. Somewhat wistful. Peaceful but unresolved.

This blog exists to deal with songs and concepts that relate directly to the F#m7add11 chordal experience.
